Origins and Design Philosophy
Our Legacy took its first steps in 2005 as an experimental T-shirt project, before founders Jockum Hallin, Cristopher Nying, and Richardos Klarén expanded the brand into a full men’s and women’s wardrobe. The brand’s approach is rooted in a understated, subcultural sensibility, where classic wardrobe archetypes are deconstructed and rebuilt into new silhouettes and textures. Each collection is built around thematic explorations where traditional Scandinavian simplicity meets a raw and uncompromising aesthetic.
Fabrics, Craftsmanship, and Signature Pieces
At the heart of Our Legacy’s global cult status is its uncompromising approach to material selection and fabric development:
In-house-developed fabrics: The collections are largely based on custom-woven fabrics from traditional weaving mills in Italy, Portugal, and Japan. The brand works with raw silk, Italian wool, washed cotton fabrics, and brushed mohair blends, which give the garments their distinctive texture.
Signature silhouettes: The brand is world-renowned for its relaxed shirt cuts (such as the Borrowed Shirt), striking jeans with optical prints, oversized knit sweaters, and the iconic, square-toed Camion Boot.
Finishes and texture: Through custom dyeing techniques, trompe l’oeil prints, and unique wash formulas, each garment takes on a vibrant, weathered character that only grows more beautiful with time.
