Origin and Design Philosophy
American Vintage was founded in 2005 by Michaël Azoulay in Marseille. Drawing inspiration from everyday American wardrobe essentials, the brand set out to create clothing with a relaxed aesthetic and high emotional and tactile quality. From the beginning, the focus has been on simple design, where the cut is allowed to define the silhouette.
Materials and Production
At the core of American Vintage's collections is the work with textiles. The brand primarily uses natural materials such as organic cotton, wool, and linen, supplemented by recycled fibers. Dyeing processes include vegetable dyeing, which gives each piece a characteristic depth and nuance. The signature selection includes:
- T-shirts and tops: Cut from lightweight cotton qualities with a focus on fit and drape.
- Knitwear and sweatshirts: Made from soft yarn blends, designed for layering.
- Seasonal collections: Dresses, skirts, and outerwear pieces that build on the brand's core universe.
